Shopify: Exclude Products from Automatic Discounts

Context:

One of my clients wanted to launch a $50 Off orders $150+. I originally set it up as a regular "Automatic Amount off order" discount. Easy enough.

First Try

A few days later they asked to exclude on of their newer products form the promo. I figured this would be easy enough. After a few minutes of clicking around, I was having trouble finding an easy solution in the discount editor. I searched online for solutions and I couldn't find anything. I eventually figured it out and I figured I'd share the solution for my future self and any other people who run into this issue.

Solution:

First, I created an auto-collection with the item excluded by using it's Title.

Auto-Collection

Then I created a "Amount off products" discount code. I assigned it to the new Auto-Collection I just created. Lastly, I added the min purchase threshold and checked "only apply discount once per order".

That did the trick!

Final Solution

If this helped you save some time, I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading!
